Now that sounds like a Festival worth attending; I looked at the program for the Melbourne Writers' Festival. Dross, from start to finish, no wonder it has to be heavily subsidised.
It really was enjoyable, for the audience and the poets. I don’t know how it’s funded; I’m not sure any literary festival exists on ticket sales alone. That’s a pity about Melbourne. The one in Adelaide was always spoken of by authors as wonderful. I think it has a similar ethos (on a grander scale) of the writers being there for a while…
